About The Band
Our Story
Formed in 2019, The Step Daughters are a high-energy OC ska-punk band made up of veteran musicians with deep roots in the local scene. With explosive originals, standout covers, and a sound that blends punk grit with ska soul, they've quickly built a reputation for unforgettable live shows and genre-defying tracks. From topping the Ska Parade charts to sharing stages with legends, The Step Daughters are here to move crowds and make noise.
Our Mission
The Step Daughters are on a mission to create music that moves bodies and sparks minds. We aim to deliver unforgettable live shows, fuse fun with purpose, and use ska-punk as a platform to express both joy and justice. Whether we're making you dance with infectious hooks or think with politically charged lyrics, our goal is to stay true to the rebellious roots of the genre while bringing people together through community, catharsis, and unapologetic authenticity.
Get to Know Us
If you're searching for the quintessential OC Ska-Punk experience, look no further than The Step Daughters! Formed in early 2019, this powerhouse group blends seasoned musicians with deep roots in the local scene. Featuring Erin Smith-Norrick on vocals, Chris Benner on bass, Mike Alvarez on guitar, and Mark Obey on drums, The Step Daughters have quickly made their mark.
Despite their relatively recent formation, The Step Daughters boast a rich history in the music world, with members having been part of various prominent local acts. Their single "F'in' with My Head" dominated the Ska Parade Top 5 for over eight consecutive weeks and continues to receive airplay on Ricky Menace's "Taxi TV."
Known for their high-energy and dance-inducing live shows, The Step Daughters deliver both killer original tracks and standout cover songs. Their rendition of "Fat Randy" featured as the opening track on the "Puro Desmadre: A Voodoo Glowskulls Tribute" album, exemplifies their deep knowledge of music past and present.
Other original tracks like "Over It" (SKALLOWEEN 2020) and "Rude" (Too Hectic, Do The Dog, Drink More Ska) have further solidified their reputation. Music videos for "We Are One" and "Violence" showcase their serious commitment to political freedom alongside a lighthearted and silly side.
They've graced stages at iconic venues such as The House of Blues (Anaheim), Tiki Bar (Costa Mesa), and the Irish Rose Saloon (Honolulu, HI) — and shared the stage with legendary acts including The Untouchables, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Mad Caddies, Scott Russo of Unwritten Law, Guttermouth, the Aggrolites, Buck-O-Nine, and many more.
